While the Cats rounded out the regular season with a thrashing of Sydney - and just five points shy of the league's highest score - they have an uncertain couple of days.

A month after their AFL brothers mauled the Swans by 81 points in the grand final, the Geelong women were similarly merciless on Saturday at GMHBA Stadium in the 15.12 (102) to 4.3 (27) romp.

The 75-point win boosted their percentage to 173 and they currently hold fourth spot, meaning the double chance and a qualifying final next weekend against Brisbane.

But fifth-placed Richmond will finish a game ahead of them and take fourth if they beat North at Arden St.

Eighth-placed North are one win behind Geelong and have a percentage of 175.7, but that could drop even if they beat the Tigers, depending on the scores.

Then there's Prespakis, one of the league's top young midfielders.

She was in a moon boot post-match after her ankle injury at the start of the last quarter.

"We'll know more on Monday when she gets scanned, but she seems in good spirits. The medical team have said things are really positive, so I like to hear that with that kind of injury, so fingers crossed," said coach Dan Lowther.

Prespakis was hurt as she stormed out of the centre with the ball from the opening bounce of the last term.

As Prespakis kicked on the run inside 50m, Aliesha Newman caught her in a tackle and the gun Cats midfielder fell awkwardly.

Her right ankle rolled outwards and she immediately limped from the field for treatment.

"The positive out of it is that it was an external rotation there and not an internal one," Geelong's Norm Smith Medallist Isaac Smith said in commentary.

"So hopefully she's just tweaked the ligaments on the lateral side of the ankle there, and a little bit of ice and a little bit of physio will get her up."

Geelong broke their club record of 11.5, set earlier this season, and also had their biggest winning margin.

They went within five points of the AFLW all-time highest score, with Melbourne kicking 16.11 last season.

Prespakis was tracking for best afield honours before her injury, racking up 27 disposals.

Chloe Scheer kicked four goals, her personal best, while Amy McDonald had a game-high 34 possessions.

Kate Darby was outstanding in the ruck and as a key position player, kicking two goals.

The Swans went winless in their debut season and will finish last, but they have plenty of emerging young players and Cynthia Hamilton picked up 19 possessions.

Swans coach Scott Gowans said they stuck to their guns and took the game on, despite Geelong's scoring deluge.

"I will admit, at different times during the game, we did talk about some defensive stuff we would have done normally," he said.

He was pleased they kicked two goals in the last quarter - the same as Geelong - and did not capitulate.
