The Griffith District Cricket Association have come down hard on Exies Diggers and the Valeri brothers following the discovery of breaches to the COVID protocol.

At the start of the season, clubs were asked to provide the Association with proof of vaccinations in order for players to be able to take the field during the period before restrictions were lightened on December 15.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered Diggers captain Theo Valeri and brother Tom had both broken the rules set out.
The GDCA board met on Wednesday evening to determine what the outcome would be not only for the players but also the club.

Diggers were stripped of the points awarded to them from wins against Exies Eagles and Leagues due to the playing of ineligible players, while the Valeri brothers were suspended for two games, with Theo also stripped of the representative captaincy.
Diggers have accepted the punishments handed down by the GDCA.
