Following the holiday period works resumed on January 4 with the construction of driveways on the southern side but was delayed a further week until January 10 due to a few days of intense rain and storms.
According to some witnesses the storms saw Yambil Street become a 'lake' the new roundabout barely visible at the height of the flash flood waters.
Manager of GB's Sport and Lifestyle said that whilst the business used to dread heavy rainfall, storms tend not to cause the issues they once did.
"Since better drainage was put in a few years ago we don't have the incessant flooding on Yambil Street that we used to have," Mr Savage said.
"Whilst we did have substantial amount of water falling down and pooling on the street, it didn't cause us any problems.

Mr Savage also noted that the recent opening of GB's Sport and Lifestyle side of the road was long awaited.
"To say we are excited is an understatement," Mr Savage said.
Happy is a shared sentiment about the long closed section of Yambil Street finally opening for Manager of Inspirations Paint Chris Sergi.
"I'm very happy, ecstatic that the road outside our shopfront is finally open again," Mr Sergi said.
According to Mr Sergi, the yet to be finished upgrades had stood the test of the heavy rainfall.
"If it was raining like it was and Council hadn't started fixing the street the flooding we could would have been way worse," Mr Sergi said.
Concrete has now been poured into several driveways west of the pedestrian crossing and will be available to traffic from January 17.
During the driveway and footpath works in the western section of the southern side, the temporary pedestrian footpath will be via the parking lane. Fencing and bunting has been installed to direct pedestrians to the entrance of each business in this area.
