The line was struck by lightning just before midday on January 11, cutting out power to East Griffith.
The line fell across a vehicle parked outside the East Griffith shops, causing some concern however while police and ambulances turned out to the incident as a precaution, nobody was hurt and the line is now undergoing repairs.
A spokesperson for Essential Energy said that while there isn't a current estimated repair time, crews will be switching and isolating power sources to ensure as many as possible have power soon. The spokesperson added that 995 properties lost power after the initial outage but the number has now dropped.
For assistance during storms, the Griffith SES is available at 132 500. If life is in danger, please contact 000.
