Probationary Constable Chandler Cox graduated from the NSW Police Academy just a few days ago before shipping to Griffith, and underwent his induction on December 6.
Probationary Constable Cox said that his time at the academy was difficult, but worth it to get into the force.
"I was in year 12, somebody mentioned joining the police as an option and I thought, yeah ... "The academy was difficult, but you just study hard. There weren't any real surprises there," he said.
"I wanted to do something different, I didn't want to sit behind a desk every day. I found out now that a lot of it is sitting behind a desk though," he joked.
He's been happy with his appointment so far, saying that everyone had been nice to work with and he was excited to visit some of the nearby wineries.

He added that looking to the future, he'd like to get involved in proactive policing and deterrence, as it 'sounded interesting.'
Constable Cox grew up in Wagga, and said that he was a big fan of fishing and camping. He's also a big fan of touch football, and said he was keen to get involved in Griffith's sporting groups, as well as hitting the gym.
Chief Inspector John Wadsworth said that he'd been roundly impressed with the quality of all the recruits this year.
"He's been really good, no problems ... There must be something in the water in Goulburn, because the batch they've sent us this year have been exceptional."
While he certainly seems to have a good reputation to live up to the earlier recruits, Constable Cox isn't intimidated.
"I'm sure I'll be alright."
