Numbers were low, but competition was fierce in race 5 of the Hotfoot.
The short course offered no surprizes with the usual suspects talking out 1st and 2nd. Ashley Pianca running a PB was 1st (17 minutes 2 seconds) followed by Elio Minato also running a PB (19 minutes 34 seconds).
Lynsey Pasin's absence enabled Adrian Serafin (16 minutes 56 seconds) to take out 3rd place.
Neither Pianca's nor Minato's PB were sufficient for them to find an increased handicap next week.
Pianca with 190 points has extended her lead in the competition and is 24 points ahead of Minato and you can forget the rest.
Barring some major catastrophe this competition belongs to Pianca. Donna Jackson recorded a "Did Not Finish" but she did. Donna may have left her shoe tag at home. It was game on in the long course competition with some gutsy performances. Turning into the final straight Allan Jones was determined to stay in front of Adrian Baird and did so with a 3 second margin.
Jones running off a 14-minute handicap posted a net time of 29 minutes 24 seconds, Baird ran a PB (32 minutes 27 seconds) and it showed on his face as he crossed the line. The next two both ran off a handicap of 19 minutes 45 second.

Aidan Fattore took out 3rd place just a few seconds ahead of Chris Fuchs.
Fattore now leads the competition with 121 points. His handicap is unlikely to change making him a real contender for the trophy.
Derek Goullet 2nd in the competition (119 points) began race 5 with 30 seconds added to his handicap and 3rd John Farronato (113 points) had 45 seconds added to his handicap.
Rita Fascianelli-McIvor winner of races 3 and 4 had 75 seconds added to her handicap. Finishing 5th, she was just 61 seconds behind Jones, another gutsy performance.
The Joggers run each Saturday at 5:30pm from the water tower opposite Pioneer Park Museum, with a choice of Short or Long over the tracks and trails of Scenic Hill.
