A school learning support officer for over 15 years, Aunty Veronica was recognised for her 'outstanding contribution to educational achievement by an Aboriginal staff member' by the Department of Education in a ceremony live streamed from Sydney.
Head Teacher of Teaching and Learning at Tirkandi Inaburra Mandy Austin said that as a Wiradjuri matriarch, Aunty Camp was dearly loved and deeply respected by all the boys, their extended families and staff members.
"Her warmth, genuine and non judgmental love, interest, care and concern are invaluable in raising the boys self esteem and resilience, often in difficult and complex circumstances," Mrs Austin said.
"She is a master of differentiation, searching and utilising whatever works to engage each boy.
"She calms, reassures and listens to their anxieties and needs, is quick to laugh, gentle but firm and always gives her time."

According to Mrs Austin, the 83 percent of Tirkandi graduates who are actively engaged in education or work and 92 percent who have zero convictions since graduation are wholly due to the efforts of Aunty Veronica.
"The vast majority of Tirkandi graduates would openly thank Aunty Veronica for help turning their lives around," Mrs Austin said.
"She deserves to be honoured for her hard work!".
