The under 13s, 14s, and 15s had been putting in weeks of work with their coaches in the hopes of impressing enough to be selected in the combined sides.
The games were originally scheduled to be played on the turf wickets around Griffith however, with the rain that fell leading up to the weekend, the games were shifted to Jubilee Oval, taking advantage of the three synthetic wickets.
In the under 14s it was a good day for the Murrumbidgee side, who came away with a convincing victory.
Led by Narrandera's Sam Williamson, they sent Northern Riverina into bat, and some tight bowling by Williamson and Vula Wate put the pressure on the visitors.
Cooper Jones (1/7) and Nick McGibbon (1/8) made the breakthrough, while a wicket each to Manan Dave (1/6) and Ryan Andrighetto (1/7) kept the pressure on.
Joel Mahy (2/8) and Lachlan Wells (2/1) saw Northern Riverina bowled out for 86.
In reply, Dave (21) and Archie Gay (25) were able to get the Murrumbidgee off to a strong start before a couple of quick wickets look to slow their progress.
Williamson (18 ret.) and Jones (18 ret.) pressed their claim for selection in the Youth Championship in helping their side pick up the win and see their side finish the day on 8/122.
It was a tougher day for the under 15s side.

It didn't slow the scoring too much as the Northern Riverina side finished their 40 overs on 5/245.
Christian Callcut (1/28), Bailey Caughey (1/30), Logan Smith (1/15) and Thomas McLellan (1/24) picked up a wicket each.
Cooper Rand (24) and Meli Ranitu (26) were able to make a claim for a position in the under 15s Youth Championship side with a 61-run opening stand, but they were the only Murrumbidgee players to make an impression with the bat as they were bowled out for 82.
