The $250 million redevelopment is coming to the end of it's first stage, moving Non-Clinical Services to a new building and planning for the demolition of the old to make space for the next stage.
The new building will open up this week, introducing features such as a link to St Vincent's Private Community Hospital, a new body room and a long-awaited oxygen tank upgrade.
Non-Clinical Services operating out of the new building will include vital hospital infrastructure such as cleaning, food and linen services, facility management, deliveries and IT, among others.
MLHD Chief Executive Jill Ludford said that the milestone was crucial in marking significant progress.
"The contractors, redevelopment project team and health service staff have worked hard to deliver this early works milestone while maintaining the safety and wellbeing of staff, workers and the community during the pandemic," she said.
General Manager of Griffith Base Hospital Suchit Handa, said that the new redevelopment would help address the ongoing staffing crisis.
"It will be a real booster to our retention and attraction rates. It's great for our staff to have up-to-date amenities."
Mr Handa added that the new paediatric wing had been a huge hit, as the first acute clinical upgrade of the redevelopment.
"The reception has been really great, we get comments on how bright it is and it gives the community a bit more confidence," he said.
"The kids are happier, the new outdoor play area provides a bit more relief."

Natalie Ong represented NSW Health Infrastructure touring the new building, and said she was looking forward to staff moving into the new building.
"It's all starting to come together ... it looks really nice, I'm really excited for the staff," Ms Ong said.
While Stage 1 draws to an end, the tender for the next stage of construction is not yet decided.
