Despite this, the GDCA season will still aim to get started in the last week of October.
GDCA president Tim Rand said it would allow teams and curators to get organised.
"I believe we still need time to get wickets up and organise teams, especially 3rd grade," he said.
"The Exies wickets need some more time as the cold weather has not allowed grass to grow on the pitch, and the uncertainty around football season meant a later start."

This now means that the fourth grade season will start on Wednesday, October 27, while third grade will get underway on Friday, October 29, with the games to be played at the Showgrounds and Collina Oval to give Exies a chance to get prepared.
First and second grade will both aim to get underway on Saturday, October 30.
