A red Honda CR250 motorbike was taken from a property on Bridge Road late at night on September 27. The bike hasn't yet been located but police are investigating.
A white Toyota 2017 Estima was also taken the next day, being stolen just after midnight on September 28. Police spotted the car just one hour later, having been set alight.
Firefighters attended the scene and extinguished the blaze.
Chief Inspector John Wadsworth speculated that the vehicle had been taken for a joyride and burnt.
OTHER NEWS
Griffith's seeming spike in vandalism has also continued, with the amenities block at Jubilee Oval the newest target.
The roller door of the new block was forcibly opened to gain access to the kitchen, before two fire extinguishers were emptied and a fire blanket was torn open.
Griffith City Council are offering a $2000 reward for information resulting in a conviction.
The destruction comes weeks after the Griffith Showground was similarly broken into, causing over $31,000 in damages. Murrumbidgee Regional High School was the target of less costly vandalism and $750,000 worth of cotton was slashed open and spilt onto the ground.
WARNING AS SCAMMERS TARGET RESIDENTS
Police have warned that fraudsters and con artists have been more active recently, with a huge increase in scam calls and messages. They've also noticed an increase in people using facebook to lure others into giving away information.
"We've had a call of a person who was asked to send a copy of their drivers license to fix their computer, computer wasn't broken. Sometimes they want people to confirm their bank details or they'll pose as Telstra or someone," Inspector Wadsworth said.
"Telstra don't do that- if anything looks suspicious, it probably is and we encourage everyone to seek advice."
On a happier note, Inspector Wadsworth added that police had been pleased with the rates of COVID compliance.
"It's through the hard work of individuals and businesses that we've been COVID free, but we need to keep up the vigilance and the mask-wearing."
Residents with information about criminal activity are encouraged to contact Griffith police on 6363 4299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
