Throughout the month of October up until Halloween, Griffith residents are encouraged to make a scarecrow and send their photos through to the Griffith Show Society on Facebook or by emailing griffithshow@gmail.com where they will be shared with the community.
There will be a preschool to year two category, year three to year six, high school and then an open category for all those entering over the age of 18.
President of the Griffith Show Society Brett Brown said that whilst the show may have been cancelled, the spirit of the show was 'alive and well'.
"Sadly many shows in NSW have been forced to cancel yet again in 2021, with the Griffith Show being one of them," Mr Brown said.

"Even so the Show spirit is alive and well and we will be back with the real show next year bigger and brighter than ever."
According to Mr Brown, the types of scarecrows that can be submitted for judging were 'limited only by your imagination!'
"You can use anything from old garden tools, clothes, shoes and old boots, newspapers, shredded paper, craft materials and more to make your scarecrow," Mr Brown said.
"It'll be a very exciting time, it's a great school holiday activity as well.
I'm going to have a go at making my very own scarecrow teddy bare out of hay bales."
At the end of October, a panel of judges will pick the winners and place getters from each category.
And if you are looking for some more fun, why not have a crack at growing a giant pumpkin for the 2022 Griffith Show Society Giant Pumpkin Growing Competition?
