The initiative will see new safety barriers installed along lengthy stretches of both Burley Griffin Way and Irrigation Way, in a bid to create safer passage for travellers.
More than 30 kilometres of the barriers will be installed along Burley Griffin Way, between Griffith and the Hume Highway, and a further six kilometres will be put in place along Irrigation Way, between Narrandera and Griffith.
Member for Farrer Sussan Ley said she hopes the roads will help reduce the number of fatal accidents on the region's roads.
"Sadly these busy stretches of road have seen a high number of crashes over the years, tragically some of them fatal," Ms Ley said.
"The community has been calling for improvements to safety in these areas and these measures will help to address concerns."
In the five years leading up to 2018, there was 100 reported crashes on the relevant section of Burley Griffin Way, seven of which were fatal.
In the same period there was 52 reported crashes on the Irrigation Way stretch, another seven of which were fatal.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said the works are expected to be finished by November and would support 40 jobs in the local economy.
She added that flexible safety barriers have been shown to reduce the severity of run-off road crashes by up to 95 per cent.
"Investment in these kinds of measures are about ensuring people make it home safely at the end of the day," Ms Cooke said.
Work on the safety barriers will be carried out on weekdays from 7am to 5pm and on Saturdays from 8am to 4pm.
Lane closures will be in place during work hours and motorists have been advised to allow up to five minutes extra travel time to their journey while the installations are underway.
The works have been funded by the Australian Government's $140 million contribution towards the Safer Roads Program in New South Wales.
