Western Riverina Family Day Care is one of seven childcare providers across the Farrer electorate to benefit from a combined one million dollars in Federal funding to improve access to care and increased workforce participation.
The Griffith daycare centre was marked against three levels of need including sustainability, community and capital support and have now been granted $195,000 to assist with their program.
The funding is covered under Round 3 of the Community Child Care Fun Open Competitive Grant and is part of a larger $100 million for early childcare services in regional and disadvantaged communities.
Director of Western Riverina Family Day Care, Helen Walker said that the funding was all about helping families in regional and remote areas access childcare.
"We are really excited about receiving this funding" Mrs Walker said.
"It is our intention to start running a free community play session with qualified educators as well as recruiting educators to start their own family daycare businesses to help tide the demand.
We don't have any funding from anywhere else apart from parent fees so this funding will help us stay open where we are and continue to support the community."
According to Member for Farrer, Susan Ley, the grant money will allow eligible child care services like Western Riverina Family Day Care to stay open and increase the number of children from disadvantaged or vulnerable families and communities in care.
"This funding is good for working families and ultimately for each community, by allowing more local parents the opportunity to get back into work or take on additional hours if they choose" Ms Ley said.
Minister for Education and Youth Alan Tudge said that the childcare centres across the electorate of Farrer were part of an additional 640 childcare services around Australia who would benefit from the program.
"We are committed to giving every Australian family access to quality childcare, regardless of where they live or their circumstances" Mr Tudge said.
