Wagga United has pulled off what all other teams have failed to do, by taking points off of the league leaders with a solid 1-1 draw at Hanwood Oval.
Hanwood dominated possession of the ball for much of the game and created multiple chances, however the finishing touch wasn't there from the usually goal-hungry Griffith forwards.
The mid-table Wagga side managed to create a few moves of their own and in the second half a well worked cross from the right saw a Wagga forward head the ball beautifully into the top right corner to put his side in an unlikely lead.
The goal was the wake up call Hanwood desperately needed but despite a myriad of chances Daniel Rogato and Chaise Donetto could only send the ball flying over the bar or straight at the keeper.

But a goal finally did come for Hanwood, when Joe Schirripa's venomous corner kick was fumbled into the net by the Wagga keeper.
Unwilling to settle with just the one point Hanwood kept up the pressure, but ultimately a resolute Wagga United defense managed to keep them at bay and secure a hard-fought draw.
The result is the first time Hanwood FC has dropped points in the Pascoe Cup this season, coming at the end of an 11 match winning run.
Hanwood coach Brian Bertolin said he was disappointed his side couldn't make the most of their chances.
I think today we learned a lot about ourselves and to be honest I think things like this are a positive

"It's a bit disappointing we probably dominated the game but we didn't take our chances and so we kept Wagga United in the game," Bertolin said.
"To their credit they defended really well and they got the goal when they needed to and put us under pressure."
But Bertolin was keen to use the match as a learning exercise, which his side could build on as they look ahead to finals in the coming months.
"I think today we learned a lot about ourselves and to be honest I think thinks like this are a positive," he said.
"It's better to find these things out in a competition game rather than a finals match where elimination is on the line."
