The two sides played out a rollercoaster 1-1 draw at Solar Mad Stadium, in a game which would have left both sides feeling like they could have snagged the win.

The balance of the game ebbed and flowed for the opening 70 minutes, with both sides creating chances but just missing that final finish to put their side ahead.

But the action burst into life around the 70 minute mark, when Yoogali SC striker Danny Roche received a red card for a late challenge on a Knights defender.

The red card was a call to action for O'Connor, as they looked to make the most of the extra man and head back to Canberra with all three points.

But it was Yoogali SC who made the break through after Joey Preece latched onto the end of a through ball and was brought down while attempting to round the Knights keeper.

Andrew Vitucci took the penalty for the Griffith side and converted with a strong finish into the top of the net.

It was backs to the wall stuff from then on for Yoogali SC, as they desperately looked to secure a hard fought win.

Michael DePaoli made a good save from a Knights' freekick which was headed into the bottom right corner, but ultimately the Yoogali SC keeper could only send the shot back across goal where a Knights player was waiting to finish and tie the game.

Yoogali SC coach Luke Santolin said a draw was a good result but admitted he was somewhat disappointed considering the circumstances.

"I think before the game I would have taken the draw but to come within 10 minutes of getting all three, against a lot of adversity, is a little bit disappointing," Santolin said.

"But in the larger scheme of things a point keeps us rolling forward so we will bank it and look to next week."

Santolin was full of praise for his side and the heart they showed, particularly after going down to 10 men.

"That's one thing that we've never wavered on this year we've been tenacious in every battle. I just can't help but feel that we have no luck," he said.
