A Griffith man will face court after allegedly lighting a fire in a Collina garage over the weekend.

Emergency services were called to Davidson Place on Sunday afternoon, where they battled through smoky and cramped conditions to extinguish a fire blazing in the garage.
Police attended the scene and after gathering information arrested a 40-year-old man at the premises at about 6:30pm.
The man, who was known to the owners of the unit, was charged with damaging property by fire and attended Griffith Local Court on Monday where he was denied bail.
He will return to face Griffith Local Court at a later date.

Police say the man is not connected with the other structure fires which have blazed in Griffith over the past week.
Acting Inspector Mark Griffith said investigations into these fires are continuing and he urged anyone with information to come forward.
