Having arrived in Griffith last week, Wright brings plenty of experience, having spent the last 26 years at the Long Bien Club in Vietnam's capital city Hanoi.
Wright felt that with the current situation, the time was right to return to Australia.
"I had a few things that I needed to go through, and I just thought it might be time to come home for a few years," he said.
"The guys here have been good to me and gave me what I thought I was worth. I think it will be a good fit.
"The incentive for me is to get the kids involved and get the place rejuvenated a little bit and build the membership up a little bit, which I think I can do."
Wright will be focusing on programs that will keep kids interested rather than just hitting balls down the driving range.
"I'm going to run a registration program at no charge for an hour to an hour and a half. Focusing on a lot of motor skills stuff, balancing, skipping, hopping and jumping and other games and activities for kids," he said.
"It is more of a games theme with a little bit of golf involved. It's about running around, getting tired and having a bit of fun.
"You have to make it fun otherwise, they die off. You can't just stand there and hit balls, I wouldn't like that."

Wright has also put the call out to other clubs in the area who might want to take advantage of his expertise.
"I want to coach; I think I am good at doing that, so that's what I want to do," he said.
"My priority is here, but if other golf clubs contact me and want me to come out for half a day and Griffith say it's ok."
Griffith Golf Club captain Josh Stapleton said his experience as a coach was what put him above the other choices.
"We had feelers out there to get a new PGA member, and when Brad's application came across our desk, he has been a PGA member for over 30 years and 25 years of teaching is great for the building of golf," he said.
"Stepping back into the Pro Shop might be a different thing for him, but the club as a whole is backing him to go as much teaching as possible. We have about 45 junior members, so we are looking to build."
