The Griffith side came into the game with a point to prove after losing 5-0 the last time the two sides met, and out the gates it looked like redemption might be on the cards.
In the opening 45, Yoogali striker Danny Roche was able to get on the end of some through balls and put himself one on one with the Canberra keeper, but he wasn't able to find the back of the net with any of his efforts.
The balance of the game ebbed and flowed but it was the Knights who landed the fateful first blow after a set-piece led to a goal-mouth scramble in front of the Yoogali goal, with O'Connor making the most of the chaos and slotting the ball home.
Yoogali SC looked like they would be getting back into the game after winning a penalty early in the second half, but Roche's effort slammed into the crossbar before being cleared away by O'Connor.
O'Connor took control of the game from that moment on and were able to double their advantage with a calm finish off the back of a devastating counter attack.
The Canberra side then sealed the game with a third goal and despite a slight resurgence Yoogali SC weren't able to pull themselves back.

Speaking after the game, Yoogali SC coach Luke Santolin said he was happy with the effort his side showed despite the final score.
"I'm actually very proud of the team that went out there today," Santolin said.
"O'Connor is a good side and we had a lot of challenges thrown at us but the effort never dropped and there was just a few key moments that went against us."
Santolin highlighted his side's drop after the penalty miss and said working on their mentality has been a focus all season long.
"It's not the reason we lost but we had a really bad patch after the disappointment of missing the penalty and that's a mental thing," he said.
"We've been trying to address those things in the changeroom at half-time but it's been a syptom of our season."
Yoogali SC will face the Wagga City Wanderers on Sunday.
