The birth of a new child through to the age of five-years-old is life-changing for parents and there is a wide range of services available to support your journey.
This is an important framework within Health NSW referred to as the First 2000 Days of Life.
The Child and Family Health Nurse Clinic, or Community Health Clinic as it is known, provides assistance with caring for babies and young children in relation to immunisation, routine health checks, breastfeeding, nutrition, sleep and settling and wellbeing of parents.
Bookings for the Yambil Street clinic can now be made online at www.mlhd.health.nsw.gov.au/CFHN-Form or over the phone on 1800 654 324.
This means you can book your child's appointments 24/7 at the most convenient time for you and will receive contact from the intake service within three working days via your preferred contact method.
May 15 each year marks World Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) International Awareness Day.
HG is a pregnancy complication of extreme nausea and vomiting which affects up to two per cent of women and results in multiple physical and psychological risks for both mother and baby, even postpartum.
Many women suffer in silence or are not aware that help is available. If you believe you are experiencing HG please seek support from your GP or midwife.
For more information contact LHAC chairwoman Margaret King on 0409 815 901.
