Less than ideal conditions greeted the 76 players at the Griffith Golf Club who contested the LOWES BP-sponsored 4 BBB Stableford, which was also the qualifier for the 4 Ball Match Play.

The strong gusty, icy winds made it a tough day at the office, reflected by the scores.
Steve Lightfoot and Chris Gill combined to card the winning score of 45points, setting up their win with a 26 point front nine, Lightfoot carding four-point birdies on the 4th, and 7th then added another on the 12th, but they almost let it slip, crashing to 19 points home. Gill chipped in with five three-pointers.
Runners-up, one point behind were Robert Curtis and Barry Northeast on 44 points, carding 22 points on each nine. Northeast a four-pointer on the 12th.
In third place were Wayne Bottcher and Wayne Alpen 43 points, scoring 23 points out and 20 home.
Alf Franchi won the 4th pin, Steve Lightfoot 7th, Jason Magoci 8th, Phil Plunkett 11th, Bryan Trembath 15th, Mark Townsend 16th.
Vouchers to 40 points.
The Draw for the Match Play is on the Club website and available from the Pro Shop. The first round to be completed by Sunday, June 6th.
A solid Sunday field of 47 players contested a medley single stableford in milder conditions.
Graham Richens 37 points won A Grade, Andrew Romagnolo 34 points second.
Michael Catanzariti 38 points best in B Grade over John F. Gale 36 points.
Greg Collins 37 points won C Grade, Ken Waide 36 points runner-up on a countback over Brett Waide.
Ryan Harrison won the 16th pin, Michael Coleman 8th.
Vouchers went to 31 points.
Members are advised that the carpark, including up around the cart sheds, will soon be kerbed, guttered and sealed with the help of Council and B & C Plumbing. Members are asked to follow directions in regards to parking etc.

The qualifier for the Mixed Match Play did not go ahead, and maybe rescheduled at a later date.
There has also been an abundance of fairway divots, and green pitch marks not being repaired. Golfers are urged to take care in this regard.

The veterans played a single stableford with 31 players in two grades last Thursday.
Mr Consistancy Gerry Cox 39 points won Div.1, John F. Gale 36 points second. Don Catanzariti 35 points won Div.2 on a countback over Byron James 35 points.
Roy Calabria won the 4th pin, Jim Dickie 8th, Geoff Smith 15th.
Vouchers to 31 points.
This coming Thursday, the veterans are hosting a group of 18 veterans from the Rich River, including 10 ladies. An invitation to local lady members to play in the medley single stableford.
A shotgun start at 10.00am, 9.15am morning tea with an end of play BBQ lunch and prize presentation. Local veterans are urge to give it their support.
A small field of 15 players contested last Tuesdays single stableford won by Garry Hartnett 36 points on a countback over Derek Langford 36 points.
