The second round of the Southern Inland Junior Rugby Union was split between Cootamundra, Temora, and Griffith. The Griffith Junior Rugby Union Club hosted clubs from Hay, Leeton, and Wagga in warm conditions at Jubilee Oval, with the Mothers of Rugby being treated to champagne and cake.

The club continued with its good early season form picking up another 10 wins and a draw from the 14 games played.
The Short Blacks Under 10s side are yet to get a win on the board this season, however, have shown great improvement, losing in a thrilling try-fest against the Hay Whipper Snippers 35-50. In their second match, the Short Blacks went down to competition leaders the Wagga Crows.
The Blacks U12s put away the Hay Whipper Snippers in convincing fashion, as they chalked up their third half century of the season, winning 57-0, however were given a touch up against the Wagga Crows.
While the forwards were unable to dominate, they held their own in the middle of the field. The Crows had too much pace out wide, and capitalised on poor kicking decisions, defeating the Blacks 15-39.
The Griffith Under 14s maintained their unbeaten start to 2021, with a 35-7 victory over the Phantoms and backed it up with a thumping 72-0 win over Wagga. The Blacks Under 14s remain the only unbeaten side in this age division.
The Griffith Blackbirds U15s 7s continued their good early season from, coming away with two emphatic wins over the Leeton Diana's 56-5 and a 27-5 win over the Crows.
The Blacks U16s faced the Leeton Phantoms for the second time in as many weeks, and whereas their previous encountered was decided with last play of the game, this week's match saw the Blacks in control for the entire game winning 33-7.

The Blacks also picked up a bonus point win over Wagga, conceding only one try in the 31-5 win. After two rounds, the Blacks sit alone.
The Under 17s Blackbirds made up for their first-round loss to the Leeton Diana's and turned the tables with a 24-12 win. The second match of the day was against the Wagga Crows who were having their first hit out of 2021.
This match finished in a 12-12 draw with both sides missing opportunities to take out the game. After two rounds the Blackbirds have moved to the top of the table on 13 points, with both Leeton and Wagga on 11.
As a result of the great start to the season the club has seen 30 players across the Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16s age divisions considered for representative selection. For the twelve boys from the Under 12s, this will involve trials on the 16 & 30 May in Wagga.
The path for twelve boys from the Under 14s and six from the Under 16s is slightly different, with the two squads going into weekend training camps at Borambola.
The final squads will be named, with Southern Inland playing trial match in Canberra in June, then playing in the Southern States Championships in July, where they will face teams from the South Coast, South Australia, and Tasmania.
