Griffith mother and son pair are shaving their heads Thursday morning for the World's Greatest Shave.
Daena Carden and son Kobi will be donning beanies this winter after they lose their locks to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Ms Carden has rocked some shorter do's in the past but this will be the first buzz-cut for her and she is feeling a tad nervous about the commitment.
"I am feeling apprehensive, anxious, a little terrified," she laughed.
"But Kobi is very excited to be a part of the fundraiser too, he can't wait."
Ms Carden, a mental health specialist has wanted to be a part of the World's Greatest Shave since watching close friends of her's go through Leukaemia some years ago.
"I have a girlfriend who went through the Leukemia process a couple of years back now and she is thankfully in remission and recovered, and the same with the daughter of a close friend Jordon Jasnos, who went through Leukemia," she said.
"I remember the support the Leukemia Foundation gave them with getting them to appointments and for the long hospital stays.
"Jordon went through cancer when she was just three years old but since then she has gone on to play soccer for Australia in the Matildas. She is doing really well for herself."
IN OTHER NEWS
Ms Carden has had a tough start to the year after suffering a knee injury six weeks ago that has started to take it's toll on her well being. She said she is using the shave to give herself a much-needed endorphin boost.
"I have a right lateral meniscus tear. It's been six weeks now and I feel very frustrated and horrible with it so I needed to focus on doing something good," Ms Carden explained.
"Fundraising has given me something to focus on.
"It's always been on my bucket list to do ever since my friend Hayley got sick and I think I am in the right space to do it now."
The Carden's are under $100 away from reaching their fundraising goal of $1000 and with generous donations from Wellways and the Aboriginal Medical Centre on their way, she is likely to smash it.
Griffith hair experts Tristan Sergi and Alyssa Vasta will have the honour of buzzing the Cardens, generously donating their time for the cause as well.
