Dignitaries from across the region travelled to the Griffith Regional Aquatic and Leisure Centre to celebrate the end of the $7.9 million project first set in motion more than five years ago.
The collaboration between the Federal Government, State Government and Griffith City Council saw the 50 metre outdoor pool and state of the art complex completed in January.
Griffith Mayor John Dal Broi said he was proud of the work which had been put in to deliver the pool.
"Here we are now at this wonderful complex, what a wonderful accomplishment," Mayor Dal Broi said.
"It's something that the whole community is proud of. I have not heard one negative comment about this complex."
"Things like this can only happen when there is cooperation between all levels of government ... I look forward to working with the State and Federal governments more in the future."
