Father Thomas Leslie was officially installed as Griffith's Dean Friday evening in a special ceremony that saw many members of Griffith's Anglican community in attendance.
"I think the ceremony went really well. It was a nice roll up of representatives from across the church in both Victoria and NSW as well as lots of locals," Dean Thomas said.
"It was very exciting to get a sense of what the community of Griffith looks like."
Bishop of Riverina Donald Kirk officiated the installation on the evening and Bishops Clarence Bester and Bishop David Farrer from Dean Thomas' previous parish in Wangaratta were also there to support the new Dean.
"The catering team from the registry and the parish did an extraordinary job with the refreshments in the hall," Dean Thomas said.
Dean Thomas, an arts aficionado has wasted no time in getting acquainted with Griffith having already attended the Regional Theatre Launch party and sampled some of our local fare.
"The theatre has a very impressive and exciting program this year," Dean Thomas said.
"I've also had a very good meal at 99 Spices which was excellent.
"I'm getting my head around how the town lay out works and I've managed to be able to negotiate my way around without getting too lost so I'm doing okay."
