Dan, who in 2021 will be studying for his Higher School Certificate at Leeton High School, has already attended a special trial in Albury late last year to make the side.
The trial was held to select a squad of 60 of the top cricketers from across the state, to represent NSW Combined High Schools at the national carnival, which will be held in the coming months.
Dan was successful with his selection of the 60-man squad and will soon find out if he has made it through the next round of cuts when the squad is further reduced.
"From what I know they will watch stats from local cricket and then further reduce the squads," Dan said.

"I haven't reached this level before.
"I played state for Riverina last year. This one, if I make it, is not quite the NSW state team, but the combined high schools team, which is higher than Riverina.
"I've played representative cricket with a couple of Murrumbidgee teams in the past as well, the men's team and the under 16s.
"That was pretty good and a good level of competition to play in."
A former Yanco Cricket Club player, Dan has made the recent move to play in the Griffith District Cricket Association's competition where he has been picking up consistent wickets so far this season with the Leagues Club Panthers.

The young bowler said he enjoyed the mental element behind the game of cricket.
"I like the battle between the bowler and the batter, running in and trying to bowl fast," Dan said.
Dan said he was hopeful of making the NSW Combined High Schools team and would be working on perfecting his bowling technique throughout the school holidays.
