After winning the toss and electing to bat, Jake Rand and Oliver Bartter made a positive start to their innings before Rand (6) fell in the fifth over with the score on 25.
Dean Bennett joined Bartter in the middle, and the pair continued to make a positive impact on the scoreboard as they put on 55 for the second wicket before Bennett was caught off the bowling of Mitchell Johnson.
The wickets started to tumble when Bartter (44) departed 12 runs later when he was dismissed by Greg McFadgen (2/29) who followed up quickly with the wicket of Talwinder Singh (5) while Johnson (5/27) picked up three quick wickets with the scalps of Griffith captain Jimmy Binks (0), Kyle Bennett (0) and Ben Signor to see Griffith fall to 7/98.
Binks knew that despite the quick flow of wickets, his side would be able to post a defendable total.
"When you have the likes of Connor Bock and Noah Gaske coming in late you are always hopeful of getting runs on the board," he said.
"We knew that around 200 was going to be par on that deck. Credit to Bocky he batted really well as did James Roche."
Bock (42*) and Gaske (20) added 43 runs for the eighth wicket while when Gaske was dismissed, Roche (31) kept the runs flowing in a 61-run partnership with Bock to help Griffith reach 204 when they were bowled out.
Alex Flood (2/31) and Signor (2/5) were able to do some early damage for the home side to get them on top early to see Lakes fall to 4/40.
Nathan Morris (23) and McFadgen (19) got starts for their side, but Kyle Bennett (2/30) was able to keep the pressure on with two quick wickets.
Gaske (4/15), who was coming into the game off the back of six-wicket haul on Saturday for Leagues, cleaned up the lower order to help his side secure the victory.
Binks was pleased to see Gaske able to bowl so well.
"To pick up 10 wickets over a weekend is an outstanding effort," he said.
"I always knew he would be able to bowl like that, but it is good to see him actually able to do it."
