Very little cricket was played in Griffith over the last weekend but the Juniors were able to complete their round of matches after getting off to an early start.
The Hurricanes recorded a narrow win over the Strikers. Their score of 11/99 was just enough to finish in front of the Strikers 8/57. Varis Gill was the Hurricanes leading run scorer with 17 runs, ably assisted by Vai Patel who scored 15, Harjun Brar 13 and Tytan Vasta 13. The Strikers best bowlers were Charlie Bunn, Deen DeBortoli and Eliza Rawle who each took two wickets.
The Strikers batting was led by Charlie Bunn who made 13 and Archie Leach who made nine. Vai Patel was lethal with his bowling picking up four wickets in his two overs to lead the Hurricanes to victory.
The Scorchers recorded a big win over the Heat. They hit up a winning score of 2/88 and got on top of the Heat batsmen to leave them reeling at 15/71. Rory Lasscock really hit his straps in knocking up 28 runs for the Scorchers and Josh Pentony continued his run scoring with 18 runs. Cody Lucas was the Heat's only wicket taken, picking up the two wickets to fall.
Owen and Miles Condon tried to get the Heat innings going with scores of 17 and 11 respectively. Thomas Bray added a handy nine runs. Harrison Palmer bowled an impressive spell to capture four wickets for the Scorchers, including a hat trick. Levi Plum picked up three wickets and Josh Pentony two wickets.
The Thunders batsmen set up their side for a win over the Sixers. They put up a score of 4/91, which was a little beyond the Sixers who made 6/65. Nate Mingay came in at the tail of the Thunder innings and blasted 26 in his two overs at the crease. Toby Rand contributed 18, Josh Taprell 14 and Winston Nolan 13.
Zavier Hoffman was the pick of the Sixers bowlers picking up two wickets. Matilda Malloy top scored for the Sixers with 14 runs, helped by Jordy James with 13 and Xavier Hoffman with 10. The Sixers lost six wickets, four of them to runouts. Nate Mingay and Chad Campbell were the Thunder's wicket takers.
This week's cricketer of the week is Nate Mingay for his hard hitting 26 runs and a wicket for the Thunder.
Practice sessions will be held on Wednesday afternoon from 5pm for anyone interested at Jubilee nets.
Senior Binks/Tucker
Paine scored a hard fought win over Finch. After scoring 5/72 (ave 14.4) they were able to restrict their opposition to 7/70 (ave 10). Amarjit Singh and Austin Flack shared the batting honours for Paine, scoring 17 runs each. Cormac Skaliotis was next best with nine.
Jim Prendergast bowled well for Finch, finishing with figures of 3/13. Will Ruggeri bowled his usual tidy spell to capture 2/7. Will also performed well with the bat, hitting up 21 runs for his side.
Paxton Fall also batted well for his 16 runs and Kye Campbell added 10 runs. Paine's main wickettakers were Ami Singh 2/1, Austin Flack 2/6 and Ryda Sutcliffe 2/14.
In another close game, Lyon came away with a win. Their score of 7/68 (ave 9.7) edged out Cummins' score of 8/61 (ave 7.6). Yash Rathi, Krina Chaudheri and Jaxsin Brown all made 13 runs for Lyon and Eric Molloy captured two wickets for Cummins. Ted Files took 2/11 and Dean Suine 2/8.
Ted again top scored for Lyon with 16 runs, Fletcher Kelly made a handy 14 and Dean Suine nine. Mitch Argent-Smith bowled a very tight spell to finish with figures of 3/9.
Will Ruggeri is this weeks winner of the cricketer of the week award for his two wickets and 21 runs for Finch.
