"My plans are to get people back in to the centre, back socialising together and to create new possibilities for the future of the centre." Ms Dummett said.
Ms Dummett has recently returned to the coordinator role after eleven years at Griffith City Council. Her goal is to bring the valuable skills she has acquired from her time with council to make the centre a place where people feel they belong.
"I am grateful for all the skills that I learnt through my time at council and all the great connections that I made."
October is shaping up to be an exciting month, with a few projects already on the agenda.
"Our first project is to get the community veggie garden up and running," Ms Dummett said.
A number of organisations in Griffith have advocated for a garden as a great way to give people a social and interactive project that would provide purpose for participants.
"Setting up a vegetable garden would be wonderful to get people meeting new friends and growing their own food." Ms Dummet added.
Whilst there are many organisations in Griffith already involved in the centre's plans, more volunteers are always welcome.
"We would love to have more young people with fresh ideas involved in the centre," Ms Dummett said.
The new community centre building project on Olympic Street which is being undertaken by Griffith City Council has begun construction and is due for completion in May 2021.
Ms Dummett plans to have activities already up and running for a smooth transition to the new centre so that people feel welcome in the new space.
