The Griffith Show is not a single weekend event. Organizers spend weeks of hard work to coordinate the show every year and the dedicated members of the Griffith Show Society would love to see more people get involved.
"It's been the same crew for about 10 years now and by the end of the weekend we are absolutely knackered," Brett Brown, President of the Griffith Show Society told the Area News.
"The more people involved, the less work it is for everyone. Even a couple of hours is a huge help.
"We would love to have more young people with fresh, new ideas get interested and volunteer too." Mr Brown said.
Mr Brown who has been involved with the show movement since 2002 explained that volunteering in the Griffith show can be a great way to meet good people and form lasting friendships.
"Friendship is why I do it," Mr Brown said.
"And the sense of satisfaction and reward," Rhonda Blenkiran, another member of the Griffith Show Society added.
"You work so hard but you get this great sense of reward of planning a successful show," Mrs Blenkiran said.
Due to COVID, the show has been cancelled this year but that hasn't stopped loyal members from showing their support for the show movement. Scarecrows "Pat" and "Alistair" made their Griffith debut at the Rotary Markets on Sunday along with a stall selling potted plants, cakes and other sweet treats.
"Anyone can make a scarecrow, put it in their front paddock or front yard, take a photo and send it in to the Griffith Show Society and we'll share it on our Facebook page," Mr Brown said from their Rotary Markets stall.
"It's just to remind people that we are still here and still going despite the tough year," Mr Brown explained.
