Max Turner, director of business, culture and financial services at Griffith City Council, says the 50 metre by 25 metre outdoor pool will be an incredible asset to the community.
"It'll be one of the most premium pools in the Riverina, and there won't be many around better than the Griffith pool," Mr Turner said.
The soon-to-swimmers hub will feature shaded and grassed areas, a barbecue area and extensive seating.
The pool itself will be heated using gas boilers, and feature shade sails around its perimeter.
"We hope the heating will extend the use of the pool throughout the year by a month or two at each end," Mr Turner explained.
"But we think it will be open around 6 months of the year."
Additional features will also be implemented, including a new plant room for servicing, new fencing, landscaping, an extension to the gymnasium to provide ammenities, and a refurbishment of the old clubhouse.
Mayor John Dal Broi said he was "happy and thrilled" with the progress, commending Mr Turner on his efforts.
"The council is very happy and very thrilled with the outcome and we're looking forward to the opening," Mayor Dal Broi said.
"I'd like to acknowledge the work that Max Turner has done as the director in charge of the construction of this pool.
"He's done a great job, not only financially, but in making sure the project is on time and to be completed by the end of January."
The new centre boasts a capacity of 500 patrons, which Mayor Dal Broi says will attract visitors from across the state.
"What I'm really thrilled about is the capacity for this centre, it can actually have 500 people with the seating, the barbecue area and the lawn areas," Mayor Dal Broi said.
"The idea that has been floating around that we've shoehorned it in is a load of rubbish.
"It's going to be a centre that the people of Griffith will be very proud of, and in fact, I would say that you have to go a long way outside of the city to find such a centre with the facilities that we'll be providing here."
