Best-known by his voice across our airwaves, the Irribiz expert and volunteer radio announcer has become an esteemed member of the local community.
Mr Murwood says he thoroughly enjoys his announcer position at 2MIA FM, crediting the joy of his experience to seeing other presenters succeed.
"It's good to see people come in here and find a little niche for themselves," he explained.
"It's a good outlet from the pressure of some things, it's great coming in here, playing with the music and seeing people do things they enjoy."
There are currently 32 presenters at the station running a wide variety of programs, which cater to an abundance of community member from across the MIA.
Mr Murwood started his radio career at 2RG, making guest appearances to read Yenda Golf Club results on Saturday mornings.
From there, he became close friends with the host and branched into other projects with the station.
"I was involved with the Yenda Golf Club at that time, I was a handicapper then and a publicity type person," he said.
"It got to the stage where he said 'you should go down to the community radio station'."
The man behind the microphone says anyone coming to Griffith for the first time should be sure to visit Pioneer Park Museum.
"I have a soft spot for that place, I really think it's beautiful," Mr Murwood said.
"If you come to Griffith and you don't go up there then you've missed some of Griffith's great history."
The beloved husband and father of two raised both of his children locally, commending the city on all of the available amenities.
"It's a great area, plus I'm a wine fan and I like good food," Mr Murwood said.
