Finalists have been selected from the nominations across seven different categories, all of which recognise nurses and midwives who have made a difference in clinical practice, management and leadership.
Ms Curry has worked as an enrolled nurse for Griffith Base Hospital's cardiology rehabilitation ward for the past two years, and was nominated in the Aboriginal Nurse/Midwife of the Year category.
The Griffith local found out about her nomination last week, saying it was an honour to be considered for the award.
"It's a great honour and I'm very proud to see that our work in the community is being recognised," Ms Curry said.
"We're getting the Indigenous patients in because they're a higher risk for heart disease, so they're slowing coming in and getting their heart checked.
"It feels good to close the gap, and we're working to be a part of that."
The award ceremony will be held virtually this year to comply with COVID-19 safety measures.
Nurses, midwives, their families and the broader community will be able to watch the stream of the ceremony on November 26.
MLHD nursing and midwifery executive director, Karen Cairney, says the awards recognise the contribution and dedication of nurses and midwives.
"These awards are an opportunity to honour nurses and midwives across NSW who go above and beyond and make a real difference not only within their teams but, most importantly, to the patients they care for," Ms Cairney said.
"Murrumbidgee LHD has so many amazing staff and it's great to see one of our own recognised at a state level."
There are currently more than 53,000 nurses and midwives working in health services across the state.
NSW Government are investing $2.8 billion to recruit 8,300 extra frontline staff over the next three years, including an additional 5,000 more nurses and midwives.
