The event was originally scheduled for September 5 and 6, but rising tensions regarding coronavirus ultimately forced Griffith Kart Club to make the difficult decision.
President Wal Snaidero says the postponement is disappointing, but remains adamant the race will be held in future when it is safe to do so.
"Unfortunately due to the new regulations that mean we can't have state or zone events, we've had to postpone our September meeting," Mr Snaidero said.
"We had everything in place and there was a lot of feedback from people that were going to come to this last round, but there's not really much you can do with our current situation unfortunately.
"But we'll certainly follow the rules and we'll make sure that everyone is safe, that's what it's all about."
The new dates for the event are October 10 and 11, with practice runs available during the day of October 9.
Until that time the racers at Griffith Kart Club will race elsewhere, many locals heading to Dubbo this weekend for the Australasian Cup.
"It's one of their key events that they have," Mr Snaidero said.
"Last night I did a quick count and they had 114 entries, so I think we're in for a big weekend.
"We've got some of our locals heading up that way and I think they've got some pretty good competition to go up against."
To fill the newfound vacancy in their calendar, Griffith Kart Club will be hosting a club day on September 5.
The day-nighter will be a great opportunity for local racers to get more practice in on home soil before the Southern Stars grand finale.
"We're really looking forward to that club day when we all get back," Mr Snaidero added.
