Wombats of Griffith opened their doors on Banna Avenue 14 years ago and owner Sally Crooke said making the decision to close the doors for the final time was a tough one.
"We've been through drought and so many other water issues since then," Ms Crooke said.
Ms Crooke said the store wasn't immune to the challenges that many retail businesses were grappling with.
She said that COVID-19 had not helped the situation and it had shown the value of operating a website.
"It's very sad," Ms Crooke said.
"It has been very hard and everyone who has come in has said it's sad to see us go."
Ms Crooke said there wasn't just one issue which had led to the decision but rather the combination of the lease ending, COVID-19's impact on the economy and weighing up whether the store could continue sustainably.
Ms Crooke said her focus for the business had always been about focusing on quality toys for children and avoiding major popular brands stocked by retail chains such as BigW or Kmart.
"The landlord has been amazing, he's supported us all through our time here, and we appreciate that," Ms Crooke said.
"The ongoing support from the community has been great, we hope to continue to service Griffith from the online and Wagga stores.
"And we couldn't have gotten through the last 14 years without the girls who have worked here."
Ms Crooke said the business would continue through its Wagga Wagga store, which was opened 26 years ago, and their online store.
Wombats Griffith is offering 25 per cent off all stock before it closes on Saturday.
