Road works will be carried out at the 'high-risk' intersection at the corner of Murrumbidgee Avenue and Thorne Road.
The Hanwood cross-roads will receive $1,600,000 for the upgrade, which will see another single-lane roundabout added to Griffith's collection.
Farrer MP Sussan Ley made the announcement on Thursday, and says it's part of a $2 million package for black spot road funding in her electorate.
"The ongoing upgrade works we have been doing on Kidman Way as part of our Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program will see an increase in traffic movements in the city's south so work on this location comes at a good time and makes sense," Ms Ley said.
Griffith Mayor Councillor John Dal Broi welcomed the announcement stating this was an important component of Griffith's Southern Industrial Link Road project.
"This particular intersection has been identified as 'high risk' given the number of collisions which have occurred in the past," Cr Dal Broi explained.
These roads are part of a key freight transport route, which also sees a lot of passenger-vehicle use.
"The $1.6 million funding will allow for the construction of the roundabout allowing for safe passage through the four-way intersection," he added.

Murray River Council will benefit from a $223,050 spend on Bunnaloo Road near Neptune Road, as well as $218,250 for Norong Road near Fisher Lane. Both will see road shoulder works and improvements.
"None of these projects would be delivered without the community's vital input and I encourage all residents and motorists in our region to nominate projects for future funding rounds", Ms Ley said.
