Teams set off from the West Wyalong Caravan Park on Sunday, with entrants due to travel more than 2500 kilometres to reach the final stop of Nelson Bay in the state's Hunter region.
The first leg of the journey saw drivers make the 524km trip from West Wyalong to Louth, heading through Cobar and Condobolin.
One of this year's drivers Jeff Johnson - who will be taking on the trip for the third time - said the overall route is a mystery to drivers, but the experiences made during the trip stick around with drivers for years to come.
"We don't really know where we are going, we just know where our end is at the end of the week," Mr Johnson said.
"There is no race about it... [one of the other vehicles] had a breakdown last year - we pulled the cricket set out while waiting for the trailer [and] we were playing cricket in the middle of the road.
"It's all good fun and we end up with some good friends out of it."
Mr Johnson said drivers from outside the Riverina have also joined in on the festivities this year, with more than 80 entrants taking off in this year's event.
"They are coming from everywhere," Mr Johnson said.
"One of the cars that is meeting us [at Rankins Springs] today is from Bendigo, there's cars from up at the Nelson Bay area, I think there's 10 cars from Albury, Darlington Point's got half a dozen cars.
"It's for a real great cause."

Funds raised by the trip will be donated to Country Hope, with each team required to raise at least $2500 to make the starting line.
"So far we've raised $440,000," Mr Johnson said.
"When the rally starts it doesn't finish there, it's still another month before it [fundraising] closes off."
