Fish Lips led by Jack Weymouth-Smith take out the Coleambally six-a-side title

On a cracking day for cricket, it was the Fish Lips side led by Coleambally's Jack Weymouth-Smith who took home the title after a win over Wagga side BCFINGDRUNK.

Organiser of the event, Michael Hodgson, was pleased with how the day came together.

"We ended up having 15 teams so we were one team short on the amount we would have liked," he said.

"There were about 100 people at the ground and probably a bit more with spectators.

"Having the extra team out has been great, but we had a lot of spectators, and it wasn't too hot, so it was a good day."

The event which is generally held on Australia Day was moved to the day before, and Hodgson said the move worked well for all involved.

"We wanted to have it on the Saturday so that we didn't take anyone away from the awards ceremony in town," he said.

"There were a couple of the younger players who were nominated for awards, so they were able to go to there rather than miss out.

"It is good to have it on Australia Day, but it worked better for us to have it the day before plus there is the extra day to recover as well.

"Next year Australia Day is Tuesday so that could pose an issue.

"If we (Coleambally) have the bye again in Griffith cricket we will have it on the Saturday, but we will have to wait and see what happens."

In terms of individual accolades, Lachlan Vogan took home the best bowler while Jack Weymouth-Smith added to his teams success as he came away with the best batter after scoring a couple of fifties.
