In the coming weeks the promising young graduates of Griffith will soon be waving a teary goodbye to their families, spreading their wings, and heading off to begin the next chapter of their lives.
One of them is Murrumbidgee Regional High School's ace Andria Zanotto, who was delighted when she was offered her first-choice preference: a bachelor of science at the University of Melbourne.
Miss Zanotto will be heading off to uni in late February to follow her dream of becoming a civil engineer, just like her sister who chose the engineering careerpath.
Miss Zanotto said her favourite subjects ended up being the hard STEM subjects such as physics and engineering, even though they were by far the most demanding.
"While they were really difficult subjects there was a really good group of people in our class, and our teachers always found a way to make the lessons interesting," Miss Zanotto said.
"We always had fun in lessons and I ended up really looking forward to these subjects, even though in Year 11 I thought they were really hard and I couldn't continue doing it."

"It was a good time, particularly in the last couple of years when I got a lot closer with some friends," Miss Zanotto said.
"It's sad we're all parting, because we're all going to different places. But we'll still be keeping in touch with each other."
Miss Zanotto leaves Griffith with a final message to the next group of Year 12 students who will be taking on the dreaded Higher School Certificate.
"If your studies are important to you, make sure to focus on that - but don't make it the only thing in your life," Miss Zanotto said.
"Still make time for the things that you love, because you don't want to lose sight of what's important."
