Police appeal for information following alleged robbery, assault in Griffith

A NSW police spokesperson said a 19-year-old man from Yoogali got into a car with four males on Davidson Place in Griffith for a prearranged lift to his home before 1.30am.

The vehicle travelled along Davidson Place before pulling over a short distance away on Collier Street. The man was told to get out of the car, when two male passengers allegedly attempted to steal the man's watch, instigating a scuffle.

The spokesperson said the pair allegedly robbed the man of a shirt and necklace before he escaped and ran towards the intersection of Ebert Street and McKay Avenue, where he then contacted police.

They said the man was taken to the Griffith Police Station where he was met by paramedics, who treated him for minor injuries.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have knowledge about the alleged robbery to contact Griffith Police on 6969 4299 or Crime Stoppers.
