The achievement is a testament to Isabella's creative vision and hard work, with her series of hand-sketched portraits titled 'War Within' winning over DET judges.
"My aim for two years was to get selected, so it feels really good to have completed my goal," Isabella said.
"I'm very proud and I know that I've worked hard for this."
Art Express is an annual series of exhibitions, showcasing artworks created by students in New South Wales for their HSC examinations.
Isabella recorded a band 6 result in her Visual Arts exam, receiving a final mark of 94.
"All of that dedication has finally paid off," teacher Sarah Best explained.
"Even during the school holidays we would have times where we'd come in to study and work on major student works.
"It's just so nice to see that all of it has paid off."
Arts teacher Sarah Best has been guiding her recently graduated cohort since they were in year eight, maintaining strong relationships with all of her students throughout that time.
"We've built a good rapport haven't we," Sarah laughed to Isabella.
"I'm just so glad these students put their faith in me."
After Isabella's exams, University of the Arts in London contacted her about an interview outlining potential study opportunities.
However, Ms Carturan declined the offer.
"I did initially say to them that I wanted to do the interview, but after giving it some thought I said no," she explained.
"But they do come out every two years, so the offer is still on the table if I do end up wanting to go there."
'War Within' will be on display at the Griffith Regional Art Gallery between April 3 and 10.
