Council voted to provide 'in-principle' support for a proposal to develop a new site for the Western Riverina Community College at the corner of Kookora Street and Griffin Avenue which will accommodate up to 60 students.
As a result of the support, the college will prepare and pay for all costs associated with the creation of a draft plan of management, while council will cover all costs associated with the advertising and public hearings for the plan.
Councillor Dino Zappacosta said he "totally supported" the motion and council should support the proposal as much as they can going forward.
"This is certainly an improvement for the students," Cr Zappacosta said.
"Anything we can do for the young people of this community - if we can keep them at school and keep giving them the education they deserve and require - is certainly something council should be supporting."

Cr Zappacosta said statistics had shown the college was maintaining a 70 per cent attendance rate compared to the same students attending only one or two days a year of mainstream schooling.
Mayor John Dal Broi added Griffith's Country University Center was also "going gangbusters" and exceeding expectations.
"We have 50 students at the CUC and our KPI was 35 for the year," Councillor Dal Broi said.
"It's great to have these facilities.
The current site at Hickey Street saw enrolments capped at 25 students due to a lack of room to accommodate new students.
