The two-year-old child was with a family member, who was doing mechanical work on a car, at a house on Boonah Street on Sunday.
Police say something caused the car to move forward, injuring the child.
Others at the house took the child to Griffith Base Hospital, where the medical team was able to stabilise their condition.
