Limit was the first to go at 9.00 am, lead by Moreno Chiappin, Tony Jones, Adrian Piccoli, Michael Wynne and Paul Muir.
Brendon Sinclair, Rodney Savage, Michael Andreazza and Sarah Trotter left two and a half minutes later.
The group of four soon became three as Michael Andreazza found the windy conditions a little too tough.
Andreazza was dropped on first lap as the bunch headed into Murrumbidgee Avenue.
The three remaining riders worked hard into the wind, but it was the dynamic duo of Sinclair and Savage that kept the group moving along.
The wind picked up again on lap three and the group was reduced to only two riders; the windy weather was just too much for Trotter.
Bunch Three departed two minutes later, led by Dick Hore and accompanied by Bronwyn Jones, Jenni Massey, Kingsley Massey, Leanne Kennedy and young gun Aiden Hill.
The handy bunch battled the winds and were encouraging with their turns, managing to evade capture until the last section of Murrumbidgee Avenue.
Bunch Two left five minutes after the last group with a one-and-a-half-minute start over the Scratch riders. Bunch Two had their work cut out for them.
Steve Bertoldo, Tim Ellis, Ash Gunn, Grant Elwin and Peter Stockwell worked tirelessly but the Scratch riders caught them early on the second lap.
Mal Blake, Craig Tilston, Nigel Dunstone, Alan Jones and Tolland regular Andrew Bradley had too much horsepower; the combined group amped up the average speed, Ellis was first to go followed by Elwin and Bertoldo late on the third lap.
The rest of the block riders sat on and hoped to be amongst some points.
Late on the last lap the speedsters started to reel in the other bunches.
When they hit the home straight, Dunstone powered off early with Blake and Alan Jones chasing his wheel. Blake put the power down, managing to claim victory and fastest time, leaving Jones and Dunstone to battle it out for second and third.
