According to esteemed English poet and playwright William Shakespeare, the course of true love never did run smooth.
And while that may be true for the Athenian star-crossed lovers in A Midsummer Night's Dream, proceedings could not have run smoother for the outstanding talent within GRAPA.
Their 2019 rendition of Shakespeare Under the Stars saw Bidgee Studio Gardens play host to their dramatic entertainment on Friday and Saturday night, attracting sell-out crowds across the opening weekend.
"We've always wanted to do A Midsummer Night's Dream and there's a lot of wonderful talent in Griffith," director Bonnie Owen said.
"It's quite a big cast and everyone stands out in their own special way, they're all stars."
GRAPA has been running Shakespeare Under the Stars for 12 years now, and the MIA community could not be happier.
Every year their team manages to stun audiences with new acting talent, captivating sets and incredible costumes.
Costume designer Jessica Wainwright has only been involved with GRAPA for two months, but her expertise helped lend the play an authentic Shakespeare feel.
"It was fun playing with the colour schemes within the stories of the play," Ms Wainwright said.
"Especially the fairies, I really liked finding all the different fabrics and piecing them together to create their look."
The cast features 27 members this year, including a number of new faces.
These individuals worked together tirelessly for months to ensure perfection for their audience, as creative vision and hard work came to fruition in their makeshift enchanted forest.
The musical elements of the show also played a key component in helping capture that feeling of magic and wonder, with experienced musical director Katherine Innes pulling the strings behind this year's outing.
"A Midsummer Night's Dream is just perfect for this space, it's outdoors, foresty and delightful," Ms Innes explained.
"Plus all the new faces in the cast are super exciting."
From the Athenian court to the fairy ensemble, the entire cast is now looking forward to their next shows on November 21, 22 and 23.
