After the first five rounds of the season, Coro is sitting at the top of the table thanks to two bonus-point wins earlier in the season.
Compared to the start the Cougars endured last season, Coro captain Haydn Pascoe is pleased his side has been able to make a strong start.
"Last year at this stage were 0 and five so in comparison for that we are pretty happy with how things are going," he said.
This weekend does see the teams enter their first timed games for the season, but Pascoe doesn't see too much of a change between the two formats.
"There isn't much difference between the 40-over format and timed cricket," he said.
"Most sides only bat 45 overs at most anyway unless they are chasing runs so the only real change is that bowlers can bowl unlimited overs."
This weekend will see the Cougars take on a Hanwood side who are showing their strength at the start of the season with their youngsters starting to shine in the top grade.
Hanwood is four points behind in third after starting the season with two wins and is well on their way to bettering their three wins from last season.
Pascoe said it is excellent for Griffith cricket to see Hanwood starting to find their feet once again.
"It is good to see the young fellas starting to find their form," he said.
"They (Hanwood) have put a bit of time into these guys, so it's good t see that starting to pay off.
"With Hanwood being more competitive, it means that you don't take any team lightly because it is such a tight competition."
Brendan Hicken and Oliver Bartter are both sitting in the top five of the first-grade run-scoring which shows Hanwood's improvement at the start of the season.
Hicken is currently averaging 28.50 while Oliver Bartter has made an impressive start to his second full season in first grade to be averaging 34.33.
Pascoe knows these two will be crucial wickets this weekend.
"Hicko (Brendan) can tear a team apart if given the opportunity," he said.
"Bartter scored 50 last week so he will be key wicket."
Pascoe will also be coming into the clash in form having scored 95 in their most recent game against Diggers which was washed out.
The first ball will be fired down at 1pm on Saturday.
