After winning the toss and electing to bat, Exies started the stronger as they picked up the dangerous wicket of Brendan Hicken (4) in the third over when he was caught off the bowling of Andrew Arnold (1/28).
This brought Oliver Bartter to the crease, and alongside Brad Hornery, they were able to get their side back on track with a 50-run partnership.
When Hornery (18) fell with the score on 59 after being caught by Hayden Forner off the bowling of Jamie Winkler, Bartter (51) was able to pass the half-century mark at run-a-ball pace before he became the second of Winkler's (2/34) victims when he was caught by Forner.
Hanwood were able to keep the scoreboard ticking over even after the dismissal of Bartter with Michael Crosato and Jarryd Day putting on 32 runs before three quick wickets fell with Crosato (30) and Hanwood skipper Charlie Cunial (4) falling to the bowling of Aditha Jayasuriya (2/29) while Pavan Cherupalli (1/25) took the wicket of Day (11).
The Rowston brothers, Ben (15) and Jack (26), were able to add some late runs and while Marc Tucker (2/34) took a couple of late wickets, Hanwood were able to post 9/185 off their 40 overs.
The Eagles were able to make a strong start in their reply with Craig Burge and Jamie Winkler putting on 20 runs before Burge (7) was caught behind off the bowling of Cunial.
Brady helped Winkler maintain the momentum to see their side past the 50-mark before Ben Rowston struck to remove Brady (11) who was caught by Day.
Winkler kept the scoreboard moving but after putting on 21 runs with Jayasuriya the pair were dismissed in quick succession with Ben Rowston (2/29) taking the vital wicket of Winkler (37) while Angus Bartter (1/25) found his way through the defence of Jayasuriya (8) to have Exies sitting on 4/75 after 14.3 overs.
Tucker and Forner combined well with the bat and got their side to drinks on 4/92, requiring 93 runs off the remaining 120 deliveries.
The pair put on 37 runs for the fifth-wicket before Brendan Hicken struck to remove Forner (13) and Exies captain Arnold (0) in the space of two balls, but with 15.3 overs remaining, Exies were still looking strong.
Connor Bock joined Tucker out in the middle, and the pair kept their side on pace to chase down the total, however, when Bock (11) was dismissed, it started the struggles for the Eagles. Ryan Bock (0) fell an over later to the bowling of Hicken (3/30) while Cherupalli (0) was run out to see Exies fall to 9/142.
A win still wasn't out of the question with the Eagles needing 43 runs off the remaining seven overs with Derek Forner and Marc Tucker out in the middle. Tucker was able to post a fifty, but with Exies still requiring 23 runs for victory, Forner was run out to see his side bowled out for 162 in the 37th over.
