After winning the toss and electing to bat, Hanwood set the tone early through Hicken and Brad Hornery.
After getting off the mark with a boundary, Hicken then scored 37 runs in the space of 13 deliveries to have Hanwood sitting on 0/51 after just four overs.
While Hornery (9), was caught by Conor Edenden off the bowling of Raj Singh it did little to slow the momentum of Hicken (63) who went on to pass the 50-mark off just 19 deliveries before his innings was ended after being caught off the bowling of Singh (3/35).
With the score on 2/79 after 8.1 overs, Hanwood had the foundation to score a massive total, and a solid 40-run partnership between Oliver Bartter (41) and Micheal Crosato (11) made sure the momentum continued.
The middle order of Charlie Cunial (17) and Ben Rowston (14) however when Jackson Hasson dismissed Cunial, Hanwood lost their final six wickets for 15 runs with Ryan Greenaway (3/10) and Hasson (2/34) doing the damage to see Hanwood bowled out for a defendable total of 184.
Needing to make a strong start, Ben Leach and Greenaway look to get their side off on the right foot.
The pair put on 25 before Greenaway (16) was dismissed by Dean Wynne (1/18), but Andrew Madden and Leach looked to keep their side in the fight.
Their 34-run partnership was broken when Madden (17) was caught by Cunial off the bowling of Angus Bartter (1/21) while Leach (17) fell in the next over then he was trapped in front by Ben Rowston (1/17).
Leagues innings hit a hurdle in the middle order with no one other than Reece Matheson (20) able to get a start with Hicken (2/18) picking up two wickets and a fortunate run out after deflecting the ball back onto the stumps with Edenden (6) out of his ground while Jack Rowston (2/18) was also among the wicket-takers.
Singh (11) tried to give his side some hope however those chances were dashed with Cunial knocking over Singh and Hasson to see Leagues bowled out for 118 in 29.3 overs to hand Hanwood a 66-run win.
Hanwood will look to carry their momentum when they meet Diggers next weekend.
