Tharbogang Public School students have already put the finishing touches to their masterpieces and will be submitting their work to the judges.
One of them is Ava Sillis, who wrote a story about a crippling drought and the suffering it causes for a girl and her family of farmers.
"I wanted to write about it for all the farmers," Ava said.
It's a story that hits close-to-home for many Griffith farming families, but Ava's story does offer a thread of optimism - the story concludes when the rains come and the drought finally comes to an end.
Fellow Tharbogang student Senna Sergi will also be writing a short story about the drought. Senna said she likes to express her creativity through stories, where literally anything is possible.
"I like it because you can put ideas into your story that don't have to be in real life," Senna said.
For more information about the show you can head to the Griffith Show Society Inc. Facebook page, the Griffith Show office, or the Visitor's Information Centre.
