The Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) has been nominated for a NSW Health Award for their Holistic Approach to Staff Health and Well-being initiative.
The initiative allows MLHD staff the opportunity to undertake a confidential physical health check and a look into their financial health.
A MLHD spokeswoman said while the initiative was only offered to staff based in Wagga Wagga this year, the district are exploring ways to expand the reach of the program in the future.
"This year was the first MLHD has offered a combined health and financial check-up for staff," she said.
"We are exploring making it available to other locations including Griffith in the future."
MLHD chief executive Jill Ludford said the initiative aims to get staff to focus on their own health and well-being.
"To achieve the best outcomes for our patients and clients, our staff need to be healthy, safe and engaged," Ms Ludford said.

More than 270 Wagga-based staff underwent medical or financial checks as part of the initiative.
The initiative will be competing with two other local health initiatives for the Safe and Healthy Workplace award, with the winner to be announced on October 10.
The program is also eligible for the People's Choice award, which pits the initiative against the other 24 programs which have been nominated for awards.
Voting for the award will close on October 4.
